Anxiety and Stress

Relationships

Self-esteem and Confidence

Depression

Living with anxiety and stress is increasingly common in our modern, hectic world. If you feel your symptoms of anxiety are becoming problemactic or if you are beginning to change your behaviour to avoid anxiety inducing situations, now is the time to take action.

We will work together to explore your anxiety, where it has come from, the triggers and your specific symptoms. As we gain a deeper understanding, we can begin to challenge the thoughts and beliefs that maintain the anxiety; learning new ways of thinking and strategies for coping which can make an immediate difference.

If you are feeling low, sad or hopeless, trapped or stuck; supportive counselling can help you to come up for air and provide the space to get well again.

We will work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour; discuss your past experiences and begin to find answers as to why your depression has taken hold and how best to get better. Having someone to talk to whom you trust to support you without judgement. who can make you feel like you are not fighting the battle alone, is what makes all the difference to the success of this type of therapy.

If you are suffering from low self-esteem or a lack of confidence, life choices can seem to be closing in around you and you may also be exhibiting symptoms of anxiety or depression. If there are things which you would love to be able to do or achieve but your self-worth makes it hard to even begin to try, then counselling is worth investigating as a means to regain balance and bring your life back on track.

We will work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour; discuss your past experiences and begin to find answers as to why you have low self-esteem and how best to begin to feel differently. Having someone to talk to whom you trust to support you without judgement. who can make you feel like you are worthwhile and have value, is what makes all the difference to the success of this type of therapy.

Working with couples involves putting the relationship at the centre of therapy. Our work together will explore how the relationship is currently working, what works well and what could be improved upon. Each person will have the opportunity to express their feelings in a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment while maintaining the focus on how this relationship can best grow and meet the needs of each idndividual.  Therapy can help couples to communicate more effectively and to build trust and understanding. Even when couples decide to part, therapy can be supportive; helping the break-up to be as well considered and amicable as possible,

Alongside my work with couples, I also work withindividuals who have issues that stem from relationships. If you feel that you lack clarity as to your identity either as part of, or outside of a relationship, then counselling could help you to explore your feelings in a way which brings resolution and understanding.

Individual counselling costs £50 per 1 hour session. Couples therapy costs £60 per 1 hour session. Reduced rates for long term work or concessions are often available upon request.

Bereavement

Coping with the loss of a loved one can take courage and strength. Having the support of someone who is not also grieving themselves can help you to work through your feelings and eventualy to begin the process of restoring hope. The process of grieving is as individual as you are, there is no 'normal' or 'right' way to do it. I would hope that our sessions would provide you with the space and time to grieve in your way and to explore how you truely feel.

Addictions or Compulsive behaviours

Often addictons or compulsive behaviours develop out of a person's need to protect themselves against painful past experiences or to lessen their anxiety and hide low self-worth. Using alcohol, drugs, gambling, computer gaimes, eating, cleaning, routines or rituals all seem to provide the same initial relief but can quickly get out of control and, if left un-checked, have devastating consequences on a person's quality of life. If you think you may have a problem controlling certain aspects of your behaviour then we could work together to gain a deeper understanding as to your issues, how your behaviour currently supports you and how you could find healthier ways to feel safe and secure.
